Entry into the real estate field requires education and training. New license applicants must complete the following courses:
Real Estate Principles: A comprehensive course teaching the fundamental principles of real estate, laws, transactions and understanding the market.
Real Estate Practice: Nearly a quarter of the state exam is based on this information. Covers residential, commercial, and industrial real estate sales as well as finance, property management, development, and other aspects of real estate practice.
One Elective Course: You must complete one of the following:
- Real Estate Appraisal
- Property Management
- Real Estate Finance
- Real Estate Economics
- Legal Aspects of Real Estate
- Real Estate Office Administration
- General Accounting
- Business Law
- Mortgage Loan Brokering and Lending
- Computer Applications in Real Estate
- Common Interest Developments
After completing the Real Estate Principles course you can apply for the state exam. Upon passing the exam you will receive a conditional license which will require you to complete the two additional courses within 18 months.
